Community-based management of land and forests in the Grand Kivu and Lac Télé-Tumba landscapes in the Democratic Republic of Congo

This project aims to promote sustainable, community-centered management of forested landscapes in the Grand Kivu and Lake Tele-Tumba regions. Its focus is on empowering local communities and indigenous peoples to manage forest resources sustainably, conserve biodiversity, and enhance livelihoods through integrated landscape management approaches. The project emphasizes participatory governance, ecosystem-based practices, and transboundary cooperation to ensure the long-term health of ecosystems and social well-being.

Scaling up ecological corridors and transboundary connectivity through integrated natural resources management in the Ngotto Forest landscape and Mbaéré-Bodingué National Park

This project focuses on enhancing ecological connectivity by scaling up the creation and management of ecological corridors linking protected areas across the Ngotto Forest landscape and the Mbaéré-Bodingué National Park. Its primary goal is to promote landscape-scale conservation, improve biodiversity conservation, and support sustainable land use practices through integrated natural resources management (INRM).

Integrated management of Cameroon’s forest landscapes in the Congo Basin

The project aims to implement integrated landscape management approaches across Cameroon’s forest landscapes within the Congo Basin. Its focus is on balancing conservation, sustainable resource use, and socio-economic development by enhancing landscape governance, promoting sustainable land use, and strengthening the resilience of ecosystems and local communities.

Transforming Forest Landscape Governance in the Lower Ogooué - Lower Nyanga Landscape Corridor

This project seeks to revolutionize governance frameworks in the Lower Ogooué - Lower Nyanga landscape corridor by promoting inclusive, transparent, and sustainable forest and landscape management. It emphasizes strengthening multi-stakeholder participation, improving policy and legal frameworks, and fostering coordinated actions across sectors and jurisdictions.

Transforming and scaling up results and lessons learned in the Monte Alen and Rio Campo Landscapes [..]

[through an inclusive Landscape-scale approach, effective land use planning and promotion of local governance}

This project aims to consolidate and expand successful practices and lessons learned from previous interventions in the Monte Alen and Rio Campo landscapes. It focuses on implementing an inclusive, landscape-scale management approach that emphasizes effective Land Use Planning (LUP) and strengthening local governance to foster sustainable, equitable management of forest and biodiversity resources.

Republic of Congo

The Republic of the Congo contains some of the most intact forests in the Congo Basin, including extensive peatlandsand wildlife-rich landscapes. These ecosystems are critical for carbon storage, biodiversity conservation, and transboundary connectivity, making the country a priority for CBLI interventions. The Republic of the Congo’s forests provide essential ecosystem services, support local livelihoods, and contribute to regional climate stability.

Gabon

Gabon is one of the most forest-covered countries in the world, with over 80% of its territory under forest cover, and is a cornerstone of biodiversity conservation in the Congo Basin. Its largely intact forest landscapes support exceptional biodiversity, store significant carbon stocks, and play an important role in regional and global climate regulation.
