This project aims to promote sustainable, community-centered management of forested landscapes in the Grand Kivu and Lake Tele-Tumba regions. Its focus is on empowering local communities and indigenous peoples to manage forest resources sustainably, conserve biodiversity, and enhance livelihoods through integrated landscape management approaches. The project emphasizes participatory governance, ecosystem-based practices, and transboundary cooperation to ensure the long-term health of ecosystems and social well-being.

The "Sustainable Management of the Mayombe, Oubangui, and Maï Ndombe Tropical Forest Landscapes in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)" aims to promote integrated landscape-level conservation and sustainable use of vital forest ecosystems. The project focuses on balancing ecological integrity with social and economic development, addressing climate change mitigation while supporting local livelihoods, food security, and natural resource management.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) contains more than half of the Congo Basin rainforest, making it an important country for forest conservation, biodiversity, and climate stability in Central Africa, and one of the most important globally.
