Through collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University and other partners, the Congo Basin Landscapes Initiative has produced a ground-breaking publication that highlights how agriculture can both help and harm great apes. The paper contributes to the first component on land use planning of the regional project and shows how increasingly challenging it is to balance the needs of both humans and great apes given the growing human population and ever growing demand for resources. It provides recommendations on how to tackle these multiple threats.
